August 2011

Hi Fellow Readers,

Each month I will post a selection of books that I have read and think you will enjoy.
I will start with a great one I have just finished called Mini Shopaholic written by Sophie Kinsella; the books are so funny to read and made me laugh out loud at points! Kinsella has written lots in the Shopaholic series and the film Confessions of a Shopaholic is based on one of her books too! Mini Shopaholic is all about Becky and her husband Luke as well as their 'out of control' daughter Minnie, with a credit crunch, ban on shopping and a surprise party in the mix this book is full of giggles and tears... a great summer read...!

I've also recently read My Worst Best Friend by Dyan Sheldon, the book is essentially about a young girl called Gracie and her (totally opposite in character) best friend Savanna and follows their friendship as well as how Savanna's status from best friend to worst best friend. It's a classic teenage girl book and surprisingly realistic story too, a good one to give a go!

Fancy a quick and quirky read? The ''philosopher/poet/artist/interesting fellow'' Edward Monkton has made a range of books, key rings, mugs... etc. but my favourite is a book called The Lady who was Beautiful Inside is such a lovely book and is very uplifting, a lovely present or gift for yourself or someone close to you.

BOOK OF THE MONTH: This month I have chosen Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson; the book was one of the best I have read in a long time! I confess it was part of an offer and that was the main reason I bought it but after reading it I was so glad I did.
The storyline is based on the idea that Amy lost her father and in the hope of moving on her mother moves house; Amy then has to drive from California to the East Coast of America but problems arise when Amy isn't able to bring herself to drive since her father's death... Enter Roger. Roger is a family friend and offers to drive Amy there. On the way they both decide to take a detour and visit the areas they want to rather than the ones planned by Amy's mother. As the blurb says ''as she grows closer to Roger, Amy starts to realise that sometimes you have to get lost to find your way home...''
The book was really brilliant and fits a summer read perfectly; just the perfect size and has lovely doodles and scrapbook pages within it too. I found the journey within the story very moving and really inspiring. Such a great read for all!!

Happy reading, let me know if you enjoy them or if you want me to review any books you have discovered.

Lots of love, Ellie xx
